Materials
Our supply chain is all North America. Our colored slates come from the Mettowee valley along the New York/Vermont border. Our clear black slate comes from Canada. The Velcro™ brand hook and loop is manufactured in the USA with some finishing operations in Mexico. Our adhesives are made in the USA.
Our current lot of foam board was made in China. That supplier is setting up US manufacturing and we are investigating a second US source.
This website shows our foam board offerings with Velcro™ brand hook factory laminated to it. Other thicknesses of foam are available including 1" and 2". We have also laminated 1/4" luan, 3/4" plywood, and ZIP™ board.
Our foam boards can be scored, bent, and cut just like gypsum board: score the front face, bend away from the score, and cut the rear face.
Outlet holes and our wood based backer boards can be cut with a saber saw or circular saw.
We recommend a wet tile saw. These can be rented from Home Depot for about $30/day. Other choices are a grinder with an abrasive blade or circular and reciprocating saws with stone rated blades.
